Activate your user account
In order to access the central IT systems at Umeå university, you need a user account to log into our central authentication service, CAS.
Umeå University offers all active students a user account. The user account gives you access to the Internet from computer labs and our wireless network, the learning platform Cambro and Portalen, where you can specify a temporary address, verify your results, etc. You will also be given an email address which Umeå University uses to communicate with you as a student. You will access your student e-mail at the tab 'E-post' in Portalen. It is therefore important that you activate your account as soon as possible!
Two ways to activate your user account
If you have received a letter from Umeå University with a temporary user identity, you can use it to activate your user account. You can also use your user identity on Universityadmissions.se (previously at studera.nu) to activate your user account. Both ways to activate the user account is reached via the link below.

If you are a newly admitted exchange student who has applied directly to Umeå University (not via Universityadmissions.se), you should use the general request form below. Write a message informing us that you are an exchange student.
