Activate your user account

In order to access the central IT systems at Umeå University, you need a user account to log into our central authentication service, Umu-id.

Umeå University offers all active students a user account. The user account gives you access to our wireless networks, to the learning platform Cambro and to Portalen, where you can specify a temporary address, verify your results, etc.

You will also be given an e-mail address which Umeå University uses to communicate with you as a student. You will access your student e-mail at the tab 'E-post' in Portalen. You also need to have activated your user account before you can get the UmU card. It is therefore important that you activate your account as soon as possible!

If you have received a letter from Umeå University with a temporary user identity, you can use it to activate your user account.

For exchange students

If you are an exchange student, you will receive information on arrival about how to activate your account.

International students outside of exchange agreements

If you are not an exchange student, have a Swedish civic registration number and have applied to Umeå University through Universityadmissions.se, you can use your user identity on Universityadmissions.se to acti­vate your user account. This way to activate your account will be available from the first week of August/first week of January.

If you don´t have a Swedish civic registration number, you can request for a temporary identity that you can use to activate your user account at Umeå University.
