What is a user account?

Umeå University offers all active students their own user accounts, Umu-id. The user account gives you access to our wireless networks, the learning platforms Cambro and Moodle and the student portal Portalen (where you can specify a temporary address, verify your results, etc).

You will also be given an email address which Umeå University uses to communicate with you as a student. You will access your student e-mail at the tab 'E-post/E-mail' in Portalen. It is therefore important that you activate your account as soon as possible!

I have forgotten my username and password at Umeå University

If you have forgotten your username and password at Umeå University, there are two ways of obtaining these:

  1. If you have applied for studies at Universityadmissions.se, the easiest way is to re-activate your account through your account at Universityadmissions.se. Choose 'I want to activate using my Universityadmissions.se account' in the activation guide for user account that you reach via the link to the right.
  2. If you have received a temporary identity, you can use it to re-activate your account. Choose 'I want to activate using my temporary identity' in the activation guide to the right.

If activating through the activation guide for some reason doesn´t work, click the link 'Request temporary identity' to the right. Enter the e-mail address that you used when registering at Universityadmissions.se, and you will then receive further instructions via email.

If you have applied for studies directly to Umeå University and not via Universityadmissions.se, or if you need further help, please contact Servicedesk.

I remember my user name but have forgotten my password

If you have activated your user account and can remember your user name but have forgotten the password, you may get a new password through this service:

If you have forgotten your user name but can still remember your password, you may ask for your user name through this service:

I wish to change my password for my account at Umeå University

There are two ways you can go to change password:

  1. If you have applied for courses through Universityadmissions.se, the easiest way to obtain a new password is to re-activate your account through your account at Universityadmissions.se. Choose 'I want to activate using my account at Universityadmissions.se' in the activation guide for user account that you reach via the link to the right.
  2. Sign in using your Umu-id at the Servicedesk web page. Once you´ve signed in, 'My pages' will appear in the left hand menu and you can change your password there. If you are signed in to Portalen, go to the tab 'My profile' and change your password there.

I have forgotten my username or password at Universityadmissions.se

For users with a Swedish civic registration number:
Go to Universityadmissions.se, click "Log in (or create an account)", then click "I have an account but can't log in".Universityadmissions.se

I wish to get the student portal (Portalen) in English

You can set language (English or Swedish) on the start tab in Portalen.

I can´t find my course or programme in Cambro or Moodle

Some departments use their own installations of Moodle, or other learning platforms, for their courses and programmes. If you can´t find your course/programme when signing in to Cambro or Moodle via the sign in links to the right, it may be because it´s in a different learning platform. Contact your department for information on which learning platform is being used for your couse/programme.
