About systems and IT services for students

As a student at Umeå University you will get access to a number of systems and IT services. In this page, the most commonly used systems are briefly described. Read more via the links to the right.

CAS and other ICT and IT services

By signing in using the central authentication service (CAS) username and password, you will get access to a number of web applications such as the learning platform Cambro, the student portal (Portalen), the wireless network, and other. CAS offers so-called 'single-sign-on' (SSO) which means that you sign in once and will then get access to the web applications using CAS.

Portalen - the portal for students

In the student portal Portalen you will get access to personal services, such as the student e-mail and your study results, once you are a registered student at Umeå University.

Cambro and Moodle - learning platforms for education

Cambro and Moodle are the two common collaboration and learning platforms used in education at the university. The platforms are available for all departments at the university, but some departments use other learning platforms such as their own separate installation of Moodle, or SharePoint, PingPong or FirstClass. Contact your department for help finding the platform used for your specific course or programme.
