International Workshop on Vibrational Spectroscopy

Date: 2012-09-06—2012-09-07
Time: 12:00 PM
Location: KBC-huset, Stora Hörsalen, KB3B1
The event is for: students - anyone - employees

Scope of the meeting
Vibrational Spectroscopy has become increasingly important in natural sciences, with applications ranging from nanotechnology to genetics, spanning the disciplines of physics, chemistry, biology and medicine. Recent and ongoing technological advances both in instrumentation and data analysis, coupled with the non-destructive, fast and cost-effective nature of Fourier-transform Infrared (FTIR) and Raman (micro)spectroscopies contribute to the gained popularity of these very versatile and sensitive analytical techniques. This workshop on Vibrational Spectroscopy aims to gather leading spectroscopists from the fields of nanotechnology, biochemistry, surface chemistry, medicinal chemistry and plant biology, to provide an overview of state-of-the-art research and applications of the various techniques. The meeting will be held in Umeå, to celebrate the establishment of the Vibrational Spectroscopy Platform, an unique facility in Sweden.

We believe there are going to be two exciting days with new perspectives and interactions between different disciplines in the infrared and Raman spectroscopic communities and a tour to introduce the facilities of the Vibrational Spectroscopy Platform. In addition, representatives of two leading manufacturers of infrared and Raman spectroscopic instrumentation will present their latest technological advances.
