Multifunction cards are found at a large number of higher education institutions around the world. Here you can find information about the multifunction card at Umeå University, the UmU card.
What is the UmU card?
It is a multifunction card which replaces many of the cards employees and students currently receive at the university. Currently the card has the following functions:
- Access card (not for NUS premises).
- Borrowing card for University library.
- Copying and printing card, with internal invoicing for employees and a cashless payment system for students.
How can I get the UmU card?
Students and employees who are admitted or employed will automatically receive an e-mail about how to apply for the UmU card. As a new student at Umeå University, you need to activate your user account before you can get the UmU card.
The e-mail will be sent to your student e-mail account (email@example.com), which you can access by signing in to the right on the page www.student.umu.se/english (or at the tab E-post in Portalen). If you have enabled forwarding from your student e-mail to another e-mail account, you should find the message there. If you can´t find the message in the inbox in either account, please check the spam folder in both accounts. If you still can´t find the message, please turn to Infocenter for help.

Pick up your UmU card at Infocenter
If you haven´t already ordered and picked up you UmU card, please do so as soon as possible. Pick up your printed card in Infocenter.
Update your card when a new term starts
You need to update the card's validity time when a new term starts. In order to do that, you must first register on your course. There are two update printers at the Infocenter that you use to enter new validity on your card. There is also an update printer on Umeå Arts Campus outside HumLab-X and one on the campus Örnsköldsvik.
