Counselling

The Student Health Service offers counselling for all students at Umeå University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Science in Umeå. The counselling may be supportive, motivational or advisory. We maintain confidentiality.

At the Student Health Service, you can get individual counselling in issues relating to:

  • Your mental, physical and psychosocial health.
  • Your relationships (family, friends etc).
  • Your lifestyle.
  • Your study situation.
  • Your housing situation.

You make an appointment for counselling by:

  • calling us on our phone hours, or
  • visiting social counsellor at drop in.

University Chaplains You can turn to them for individual counselling. All conversations are free of charge and they maintain confidentiality. You have to book an appointment for counselling.

Ungdomshälsan offer individual counselling available for for young people age 16-22 years old. The conversations is free of charge and Ungdomshälsans maintain confidentiality.

Information prior to contacting the Student Health Service

Visits to the Student Health Service are free of charge.

The waiting time for counselling very rarely exceeds three weeks.

Your contacts with the Student Health Service will be journaled in accordance with the Patient Data Act (Patientdatalagen SFS 2008:355) to ensure your patient safety, so bring your ID documents at your visits to the Student Health Service.

The staff at the Student Health Service observes confidentiality in accordance with the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (SFS 2009:400).
